The ancients worshipped and celebrated chalk streams which are rare only occurring in Southern England. Imagine the wonder felt by a hunter finding a crystal clear stream filled with drinking water rather than the usual muddy swollen rivers. Such reverence was given to these waterways that sacred sites were located along side these life giving channels such as Stonehenge and the Avebury Rings.
