Stilbruch Rustic wooden baroque chest, probably Germany, around 1720

Painted wood, hand-forged iron
Dimensions: 78 x 52 x 45 cm (height x width x depth)
Very nice patina
This chest made of wood with hand-forged iron fittings has a wonderful age-old patina, which is what makes this object so charming, because that’s how old wood should look. The painting impresses with the finely executed flowers that are located in the arches and that are separated by the finely turned rods.
The chest is in an age-related, used condition. The lock, key, handles and interior fittings are made of hand-forged iron. The original painting is badly faded on the top of the chest. Likewise, the color of the two attached picture frames is badly worn. The wood on the left front corner of the chest is slightly chipped. On the back there are several places on the left and right edge where notches and small splinters can be seen on the wood. The baroque chest has several wormholes on the upper edges of the sides. The chest measures 78 x 52 x 45 cm (height x width x depth).
