Hemingway Gallery Kifwebe Mask. Luba, D.R. Congo

Kifwebe masks were danced during initiations and brought out by leaders to keep order in the community. They were also used at protection against evil spirits. This mask emulates those older historic masks but is a decorative contemporay piece.
